October 2009 Christiane together with fellow hemipterists Daniel Burckhardt (Basel), Ian Millar (Pretoria), and David Ouvrard (Paris) received a Citrus Reserach Board grant for systematic research on Asian Citrus Psyllid relatives in the genus Diaphorina.

September 2009 Graduate student Lily Berniker won the second place in the Oral Presentation competition at the Annual Entomology Department Student Seminar Day.

September 2009  Our NSF-funded PEET project on Reduviidae has started - the web site is currently under construction.

August 2009 Graduate student Wei Song Hang awarded a Collection Study Grant at the American Museum of Natural History.

April 2009 Valentina Castro Huerta, a master's student from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, is visiting the lab for a month to work on her revision of the harpactorine genus Acanthischium Amyot & Serville.

March 2009 Christiane was awarded the 2009 prize for the best paper in the journal Systematic Entomology in 2008 for her cladistic analysis of reduviid relationships.

Feb 2009 Heteroptera Synthesis Meeting in Riverside, California 6-8 February, 2009 !! Sponsored by the Encyclopedia of Life and the Biodiversity Synthesis Center. More than 20 Heteropteran researchers will gather for a three day meeting. August 2008 Christiane received an award from the Beneficial Arthropod Exploration Fund Committee for "The New World genus Zelus Fabricius in Central and South America: Foreign Exploration and Systematics of Beneficial Assassin Bugs (Hemiptera: Reduviidae)".

May 2008 Diane Soto received the Academic Excellence Award for an Entomology undergraduate student.

May 2008 Wei Song Hwang and Guanyang Zhang received an award through the California Desert Research Fund for a Triatominae survey in Southern California during summer 2008.
